Four daughters and 98,485 photos
I was not building a portfolio. I was trying to keep my kids.

There are 98,485 photos in my iCloud right now. I only know the number because I went and looked. It happened one phone at a time, one camera at a time, whatever was in my pocket that year. Birthday candles. A gym floor. The driveway. They were never supposed to be good pictures.
Charlie-Rose
My last kid, and the last one I get the honor of raising. She is the reason I picked the camera up for real, and when I am gone that name is still hers. That is not a brand somebody workshopped for me.
The Legacy Project
I lost my grandfather when I was young. I can tell you what he looked like but I cannot tell you what he sounded like. Every single thing I miss about him is the part a photograph was never going to keep. So now I sit down with people while they still have somebody to sit down with.

HOW I WORK
My Approach
Candid
I live in the moment and I shoot it that way. The laughs, the movement, the thing that happened while nobody was looking at me.
Close
I get near enough to catch what is already going on instead of chasing it around the room. Most of the good ones were never planned.
Patient
The right person walks into the right spot and I am already there. That is the eye, and it is the part I have been building for years.
